Ceramics Collection:
The Ducal Palace exhibits pieces of Portuguese and Spanish faïence from the 17th to the 19th centuries. There are, for example, aranhões plates, apothecary pots and jars as well as Miragaia and Rato tureens.
Among the China collection there are several pieces that stand out: a 16th century Ming bowl decorated with lotus flowers and leaves in the classic cobalt blue from the Jiajing dynasty; a set of 17th century luxuriantly emblazoned aquariums; a garniture with five pieces decorated with cobalt blue over white porcelain; and a pair of 17th century large pots with the Sampaio e Mello coat of arms.
