A nude figure is seated on gray clouds and stretches the right arm to grasp another even darker cloud. In the upper right corner, the two types of clouds join together through a rainbow that remains almost obscured.
The painting could be an allegory of Erebus, the immortal Greek god who personifies darkness and obscurity.
