«Basins with geometric designs are a product adapted to a less demanding public, for everyday use, that can find parallel in Coimbra [Portugal], in the same period, which have been conventionally called “pre-ratinhos”. As in this case, we are dealing with tableware for lower-classes, with practical functions, in which decoration serves as an accessory, without the concerns of ostentation that can be observed in other contemporary pieces.»
