A representation of the Virgin Mary, standing with her hands in prayer. She wears a veil, a long reddish tunic and a blue cloak over her left shoulder, passing under the right arm. She is leaning slightly to the left side. An almost circular plinth bellow is decorated with cherubs alternating with small clouds.
The Virgin Mary is presented according to a multiplicity of devotions. The angel St. Gabriel announced to her that she was to be the mother of the Saviour, and she accepted knowing that she would suffer with this decision. She followed her Son’s public life from afar, until His death on the cross. According to Christ’s request – during the sacrifice in the Calvary – Mary came to be supported by the apostle St. John.
