This is an artefact used as a support for a single candle, which is put on top of a piece of furniture and used to light up a chamber.
A candlestick is composed of three parts – the base, the stem and the cup where the candle is inserted. The candlestick also includes a candle guard (a disk placed close to the cup), which is where the drops of wax that fall from the burning candle are kept.
In the 15th century, when the Palace of Dukes was being built, candlesticks and candelabra were being used in all of the rooms, lighting up the chambers during dark days and at night.
